Welcome to Yabelana The Yabelana (meaning to share) system is the first of its kind and uses technology to provide older persons and their supporters with easily accessible information on their mobile phones. The system supports a variety of mobile phones including:

• Pushbutton phones to via a USSD code (*134*237#)
• An app for smartphones (Google Play Store, Apple iStore)

Yabelana is context specific, and gives a wide range of information, from health care and social services to councillors' contacts and events. Although targeted at older persons, services listed are not age-restricted. Service providers are registered on Yabelana to create and update their information and send notification of events to users. To keep information up to date and relevant communities are encouraged to prompt service providers to be listed on the eDirectory. Users are able to give instant feedback on their phones, thus encouraging citizen participation and accountable service delivery. The project is currently active in the communities of Ikageng, Promosa, Lokaleng and Sharpeville.
